Model 3 from Tesla, the high-volume vehicle, with a dual motor, will be delivered soon, says Elon Musk, the Chief Executive Officer.
Tesla was delivering its vehicles with a backlog of 12 to 18 months to those who had made the reservations, very early. But now the company has announced a new update. The company claims that this delay has been reduced. Now the backlog will not be 12 months but 4 months, the company claims. If you apply now, you will get your vehicle from Tesla in a matter of 4 to 6 months.
Model 3 has been promised for the past 2 years but will be delivered shortly. The All Wheel, Dual Drive Motor and Performance Versions are cutting down the delay period. Of the dual motor, one is for power and the other is for range, says the CEO.
The long-range battery models are the more expensive ones, and production preference is said to be given for these models, first.
The less expensive models, fitted with a Standard battery will be delivered by 6 to 12 months. There are many drivers who hope to get the federal tax credit for this model.
The dual motor version with AWD option costs $5,000 with a range of 310 miles.
By accelerating the production rate, the new orders will be delivered and further backlog can be avoided. Delivery delays have prevented Tesla’s massive entry into the market, while the assembly lines for rework have also been halted for the moment.
Ranger services, with technicians to come and fix the car, will also be provided to Tesla users, with a click on their phone.
Tesla will be able to meet its production target of 5000 sedans per week to meet consumer demand, feels the CEO. Communication about the delay has been conveyed through e-mail, as buyers are yet to receive their models and are still waiting for their demands to be met.
