Apple Removed The Bans For Telegram’s App Update To Make It GDPR Compliant

Apple recently conceded and allowed the voice service and encrypted texts of Telegram to proceed with the update in order to make the app GDPR Privacy Protection compliant. The GDPR Privacy Protection is of Europe and this was declared a few days later when Pavel Durov, Telegram’s CEO, alleged Apple for preventing them from releasing the updates on the request of Russian Censors.

Pavel Durov expressed his gratitude for Apple and CEO-Tim Cook after Apple allowed Telegram to release @telegram’s latest version. Now, Telegram is able to reach huge numbers (millions) of users, though the previous hindrance caused some troubles.

Telegram got fixed in a conflict with the Russian Authorities for refusing release of encryption keys. It denied providing the secret encryption data to the Russian Federal Security Service. The encryption keys must get shared with the FSB under Anti-Terror laws.

The Russian Courts planned to block Telegram’s services nationwide. The authorities started blocking numerous IP addresses to accomplish the orders. The blocked IP addresses were associated with Google Cloud Servers and Amazon Web Services.

The outcomes were devastating. The Russian web users underwent mass web outages. Following the mass outages, Google and Amazon blocked Telegram’s powerful technique, which is known as domain fronting. It also used Fellow-Chat service signal to prevent the blocks.

Telegram’s CEO shared, Apple blocked the updates for Telegram from March worldwide. It was a matter of a severe headache for Telegram as GDPR became effective in May. Apple prevented Telegram from renewing or updating the iOS apps worldwide when it received orders of Russian Authorities for removing Telegram App from its app store. ‘Telegram’ also was in a risk condition of paying major fines for not being updated.

Pavel added, Telegram has only 7% user base in Russia but receiving the orders from Russian Authorities, Apple restricted the updates of Telegram for worldwide users since April.
